◎ Ways to Boost Vitality in Winter ◎
Actively Adjust to Time Differences In winter, when sunlight and outdoor activities decrease, serotonin production diminishes, instinctively increasing appetite. With a decrease in physical activity and a surge in appetite, it’s easy to find clothing sizes expanding significantly. While body fat helps maintain body temperature and can be beneficial against the cold, excessive fat accumulation can signal health problems. To maintain health and proper body temperature during winter, it’s essential to reduce unnecessary fat while ensuring a balanced intake of nutrients that promote muscle health and blood circulation. Regular exercise and a healthy diet are fundamental, and incorporating dietary supplements that aid in body fat management can also be beneficial. Vital Beauty Slimmer DX includes a complex of APIC soybean embryonic hot water extract that helps reduce body fat and includes indigestible maltodextrin, which aids in regulating blood sugar levels and lowering carbohydrate absorption, assisting in fat burning. Understand Your Body's Changes For people over 65, body temperature may slightly decrease, typically reaching its lowest point around 4 AM and its highest around 6 PM. While there may be variations based on age, gender, and time of day, our bodies strive to maintain a consistent temperature of 36.5°C. When surrounding temperatures drop, causing a risk of losing body heat, our defense systems activate, leading to various physiological changes. One of the most prominent changes is the diversion of blood from the extremities to the body's core to protect essential organs. Frequent urination and a runny nose occur because the body reduces its fluid volume to facilitate this centralization of blood. Muscles may contract in preparation for sudden temperature changes, which can limit movement range to prevent heat loss. If these measures fail to maintain body temperature, shivering occurs as the body attempts to generate heat. This elevation in heart rate to warm the body necessitates particular caution for those with hypertension. As blood shifts toward the body's core, peripheral areas such as hands, feet, and the head can become cold, making it advisable to wear gloves, thick socks, and hats to retain warmth. Include Heat-Generating Foods in Your Diet Eating foods that prevent body temperature from dropping and keep the body warm is also crucial. Strong-flavored foods like onions, giner, garlic, and chili, as well as warm-natured foods such as job's tears, chives, and pumpkin, are effective in generating heat in the body. Among these, red ginseng is considered the best. Some people avoid ginseng or red ginseng due to a warm body constitution, but actually, red ginseng does not inherently raise body heat; rather, it aids in blood circulation, helping to maintain body temperature. Dr. Shin Kyung-seop's team atChungbuk National University found that people at risk of blood circulation disorders who took ginseng extract for eight weeks showed a 10.79% reduction in platelet aggregation, demonstrating its benefits for promoting blood circulation. Additionally, a study by Professor Lee Jin-moo’s team at Gangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital proved that patients with cold extremities experienced an increase of over 1.5°C in hand and foot temperature after consuming red ginseng. Therefore, if you often experience cold hands and feet and frequent colds during the winter, consistently incorporating red ginseng products that promote blood circulation and enhance immunity can be an effective way to overcome these issues (HYANG JANG no.661). ◎ The Secret of Elegant Classic Beauty - Quiet Style ◎ The old money look never stands out. It revolves around neutral colors like dark shades, light beige, and white, sticking to just one or two colors or similar tones without mixing various colors. While the designs are simple, the focus is on materials, details, and craftsmanship. Even if the design isn't flashy or unique, it must clearly differ from ordinary clothing, offering enough value to justify its high price. Brands like Loro Piana, which is known for using the finest fabrics including camel and vicuña wool and the best cashmere; Hermès, which started with equestrian sports equipment and continues to produce top-tier leather and fabric products; and Ermenegildo Zegna, which became a luxury brand with high-quality suits made from premium fabrics without visible logos, are prime examples.
THE ELEGANCE! The old money look, synonymous with elegance, luxury, and sophistication, is something many aspire to emulate. The term "old money" contrasts with "new money," referring to families that have inherited substantial wealth over generations, typically including socially prestigious conglomerates. The luxurious clothing enjoyed by these born- wealth elites is characterized by understated elegance that does not display brand emblems or logos. This style is often referred to as quiet luxury or stealth luxury, emphasizing material quality, details, craftsmanship, and even beliefs in ethical consumption rather than overt flamboyance. Classical Beauty Completing the elegant and refined old money look is, of course, the skin. Here are some essential tips to remember for achieving dignified and beautiful skin that seems to have been well-maintained for a long time.
1.
Refined Skin Texture The skin surface has fine grooves that create a delicate texture. Babies have smooth skin because their texture's depth and spacing are consistent, but aging or skin damage can make these grooves uneven, resulting in rough skin. The secret to those with naturally glowing skin, who seem to have not undergone any major treatments, lies in consistent use of good skincare products that help maintain an even skin texture. If you notice a loss of luster in your skin, it could indicate that your texture is damaged. Regular exfoliation to remove dead skin cells can make your skin smoother and enhance your overall appearance, so be sure to maintain a consistent exfoliation routine.
2.
Cultivating a Beautiful Bare Face If cleansing is not adequately performed, residue and dust can irritate the skin, increasing the risk of pigmentation from makeup that hasn’t been thoroughly removed. After freshly washing away the daily accumulated grime, the next crucial step is massage. Apply a massage cream generously post-cleansing and gently press against areas where toxins gather, such as the temples, inner corners of the eyes, beside the nose, along the philtrum, and the central chin, massaging softly in line with the skin’s texture to promote blood circulation and facilitate the removal of waste.
3.
Captivating Eyes The skin around the eyes is delicate and challenging to care for due to its thinness and frequent movement. If you tend to frown often, wrinkles can be an issue, but it's even more concerning how that can alter your expression. Hence, maintaining a healthy lifestyle along with positive thoughts and smiles is the ultimate care method. Using an eye cream that revitalizes your gaze can help delay signs of aging. Excessive nourishing ingredients can fatigue the eye area, and applying too vigorously can even create more wrinkles; therefore, finding the right eye cream for your skin type and applying it gently every day is essential (HYANG JANG no.661).
◎ The Beauty of Revealing Your Skin with Naked Dressing ◎ Powerful Antioxidants Free radicals are linked to 90% of aging-related diseases, affecting the skin by slowing nutrient absorption and waste elimination. This can result in a loss of elasticity and firmness. Protect your skin by applying sunscreen, avoiding alcohol and smoking, and using antioxidant-rich skincare products. Starting Fresh with Skincare Dead skin cells are a major cause of rough and dull skin, especially in summer due to indoor- outdoor temperature differences. Regular exfoliation is essential to normalize the skin's turnover cycle and restore its glow. Revealing Beautiful Skin For naked dressing, hydrated skin is key. Pay attention to dry areas like elbows, heels, thighs, and stomach. Use a body wash that lathers well and moisturize immediately after showering for smooth, glowing skin. Maintaining Skin While Showering Shower no more than twice daily with lukewarm water. Avoid scrubbing too hard as it can cause irritation. Instead, gently massage with a guasha-style soap for dual benefits of exfoliation and relaxation. Achieving Glowing Skin in 4 Weeks Start with hydration, then focus on antioxidant care to brighten your complexion. With proper care, your skin will glow naturally without needing additional makeup. Carefully Layering Your Makeup Base Healthy, radiant skin is the perfect foundation for makeup. Allow skincare products to absorb properly before applying sunscreen and foundation. Apply thin layers of sunscreen for better protection without overwhelming your skin (HYANGJANG no.663).
◎ Outlook on India's Luxury Beauty Market ◎ India's luxury beauty market, already valued at $1 billion, is expected to nearly double to $1.6 billion by 2028 and expand fourfold to $4 billion by 2035, according to a report. This forecast was made in a revised edition of the white paper titled "Significant Untapped Growth Opportunities in India’s Luxury Beauty Market," jointly released on September 30 by Kearney, a business consulting firm based in Chicago, Illinois, and Luxasia, a leading cosmetics distribution company headquartered in Singapore. The white paper predicts that India's luxury beauty market will continue to grow at an annual rate of 14%, positioning itself as one of the fastest-growing markets globally, not just in Asia. The driving factors for this growth include India's overall economic expansion, the rising middle class, and an increasing number of sophisticated consumers who prefer luxury products. Although relatively small compared to the size of India's population, the luxury beauty market is expected to follow the rapid growth trajectory that China experienced in its luxury beauty sector over the past 15 years. The report emphasizes that now is the optimal time for individual brands to establish their presence in India, securing customer loyalty and riding the wave of imminent growth. Fortunately, many global brands have already made strides into the Indian market in recent years, seizing the advantages of being early movers. However, the report also warns that entering the Indian market is not without challenges, as the country presents numerous obstacles. India is described as "a land of many Indias," a complex market with diverse regions and consumer preferences. Unlike other Asian countries, India's vast population and ethnic diversity result in varied consumer tastes within a single country. Thus, brands will need to develop region-specific or even city-specific strategies rather than relying on a unified market approach. Additionally, brands must navigate regulatory complexities in product registration and import processes while establishing an optimal supply chain. The white paper recommends that brands entering the Indian market prepare for three strategic challenges: product customization, developing region-targeted marketing strategies, and optimizing multi-channel supply chains through strategic partnerships. Karen Dal, Kearney’s Managing Director for Consumer and Retail Industries, said, “India’s luxury beauty market is at an inflection point for exponential growth. Now is the best time to invest." Brands that strategically navigate the complexities of the Indian market will not only build a solid foundation but also foster close, long-term relationships with India’s new generation of luxury consumers. Shashank Goel, Kearney’s Director, added, “As consumers become more sophisticated and economic prospects remain strong, now is the time to invest in India’s luxury beauty market. The rewards will come to brands that can understand the subtle differences in local consumer preferences and cater to the diverse demands of the market.” He further noted that brands must grasp the pulse of Indian consumers to thrive in this dynamic environment. Satyaki Banerjee, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Luxasia, commented, “Despite its complexity and diversity, India is a highly vibrant and attractive market in the luxury beauty space. The market’s growth will not follow a gradual curve but rather a rapid inflection point.” He stressed that brands need to establish their presence in India before reaching that critical inflection point, and this effort must begin today, not tomorrow. Banerjee advised brands to closely collaborate with local partners to effectively address the market’s complexities, structures, and information asymmetries. Wolfgang Baier, CEO of Luxasia Group, concluded, “If you wait until tomorrow to enter the Indian market, it will be too late. While the market does carry risks and a steep learning curve, brands will need India-specific experts to navigate the market successfully” (Beautynury, October 4, 2024).
